Alpha Insurance file for bankruptcy

In May we saw Alpha Insurance file for bankruptcy, leaving a lot of UK policy holders without cover after the Danish Financial Supervisory Authority urged all policy holders to seek new cover. So, what do we know about Alpha? They were an unrated Danish based insurer that provided a range of policies to the UK retail and commercial market, including Solicitors Professional Indemnity, Motor, GAP and Latent Defects insurance.

This has left a lot of businesses in the dark, out of pocket and with the addition of considerable stress – are you unknowingly taking additional risk dealing with an insurer with a poor or no financial strength rating? For more information on Alpha Insurance, please visit the Financial Services Compensation Scheme website – www.fscs.org.uk/what-we-cover/products/insurance/alpha-insurance-as-declared-bankrupt
