What is GDPR

So you’ve probably heard a lot about GDPR of late, the European legislation that came into effect on May 25th designed to modernise laws that protect the personal information of individuals – but what does this actually mean for you and your business?  In short, if you hold or process personal/sensitive data such as names, birth dates, sexuality, religion, addresses, etc to name but a few, then you are accountable for the handling of this information and the loss or unauthorised disclosure of this data must be reported to the ICO within 72 hours. Failure to comply with GDPR, which includes breaches by Third-Party Providers that you share data with, can have serious financial and reputational consequences on your business.

This will involve notification and monitoring costs, engaging IT specialists and media consultants, defending any private lawsuits filed against and an investigation by the ICO, which if found culpable, inevitably lead to a fine up to 4% of your turnover or a staggering €20 million.. Want to discuss a robust Cyber and Data policy that will respond, please do not hesitate to contact Johnson Insurance Services at or on 01937 222139
